When I was a very young child, I watched the Star Wars behind the scenes videos of how the magic was made. I loved seeing them put scenes together, and I stayed glued to the DVD collection for hours at a time. This excitement about film would follow me throughout my life, when I began to think about growing up and finding a career. In the end, film won, hands down.
I have a steady income, and a happy life. Yet, film still calls to me.
At a certain point, I realized that there were bills to pay and I didn’t see my way into the film industry. So, with my bachelor’s degree, I eventually turned to teaching. I taught math in a difficult environment, with kids who had been turned away from other schools. I was passionate about helping the kids, but eventually, I burnt out.
After a while, my wife encouraged me to pursue IT, and that’s where I am now. It’s a good job, with decent benefits. I have a steady income, and a happy life. Yet, the dream continues.
There’s Still That Spark of Magic to Ignite
The magic of filmmaking still appeals to me. I can feel that spark burning into a steady flame. So, I’m returning to my scripts, some finished, some in process. Take a look. I think you’ll find, if nothing else, a kindred spirit to fuel your own passion for storytelling.
